Area teams open playoffs with wins

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 3, Flandreau Indian 0
FORESTBURG Seventh-seeded Sanborn Central/Woonsocket opened the Region 3B Tournament with a 3-0 victory against the Flandreau Indians on Monday.

The Blackhawks won the match with set scores of 25-3, 25-4 and 25-7.

Liz Boschee led the way for Sanborn Central/Woonsocket with 11 kills. Kaylie Robinson and Addi Bartholow finished with nine and seven kills, respectively.

Bartholow and Tatiana Roberts each had three ace serves. Kenzie Schley had 15 assists, while Kali Hofer had 13 assists.
Summer Beekman recorded four digs for the Lady Blackhawks, while Boschee had a block.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket, which is now 18-10, will travel to Colman-Egan in the quarterfinals at 6 p.m., today.

Iroquois/Lake Preston 3, Oldham-Ramona-Rutland 0
LAKE PRESTON Iroquois/Lake Preston earned a spot in the Region 2B quarterfinals with a sweep against Oldham-Ramona-Rutland on Monday.

The set scores were 25-23, 31-29 and 25-22.

Hadlee Holt recorded a team-high 14 kills to lead the Sharks to the victory. Kera Dubro had eight kills, while Brityn Davies had six kills.

Dubro tallied three aces, while Hadlee Holt had a pair of aces and Bentlee Holt had an ace.

Davies had 36 assists for Iroquois/Lake Preston, while Hadlee Holt had 35 digs and Trinity Pirlet had nine digs. Hadlee Holt also had three blocks, while Natalie Cundy had two blocks.

Camlin Schneider led Oldham-Ramona-Rutland with 16 kills on 34 of 37 attacks. Brookly Riedel was 12 of 12 serving with three aces, while Schneider and Jordyn Reagle each had a pair of aces.

Emily Matson was 76 of 77 setting, with 16 assists for ORR, Gabby Pickard had 21 digs, while Hattie Hanson had four blocks.

Iroquois/Lake Preston will face top-seeded Castlewood in Castlewood at 6 p.m., today.

Arlington 3, James Valley Christian 0
ARLINGTON In another opening-round matchup in Region 2B, Arlington swept James Valley Christian with set scores of 25-9, 25-10 and 25-14.

Arlington will face second-seeded Wolsey-Wessington at 8 p.m., today in Wolsey.
