HURON During the public forum portion of Monday evenings Huron City Commission meeting, Mayor Mark Robish encouraged Huron residents to vote Tuesday.
In case you havent seen or heard about it, tomorrow is election day, Robish joked. He continued to note that Huron municipal residents all vote at the Huron Arena from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The commission approved a total of 32 liquor and wine license renewals for 2025. Each license has certain restrictions, with seven business holding multiple licenses as part of their business to meet customer needs.
Robish explained a street vacation request between 27th and 28th St. SW, requested by Lauren and Lisa Miner and Fred and Michelle Stickley. After stating that no utilities were tied to the parcel in question, the commission unanimously approved the vacation.
Commissioners also:
Approved a raffle for the Huron Fire Department with a drawing to take place on Dec. 21.
Approved the promotion of Curtis Ryman from Park Maintenance 1 to Park Maintenance 2, effective Dec. 16.
Renewed lease agreement with Ben Dragt for offseason use of Broadland Creek Golf Course from Nov. 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025.
No city commission meeting will be held next Monday and all city offices will be closed in honor of Veterans Day.
The solid waste department rubble site will be closed on Monday, and garbage/recycling/lawn waste pickup normally done on Monday will be done on Wednesday, Nov. 13.
