Mark Anderson

CARTHAGE Mark Anderson, age 72, of Carthage, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Huron Regional Medical Center.
His funeral service is 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 15, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carthage, with burial in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. A lunch will follow at the Carthage Community Hall.
Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 14, at Kuhler Funeral Home.
Mark Blaine Anderson, the son of Verlie and Mildred (Starzl) Anderson, was born November 17, 1951, in Huron. Mark attended school and graduated from Carthage High School in 1970. Shortly after high school, Mark joined the U.S. Army National Guard.
Mark married Colette Swanson on July 20, 1974, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Carthage. The couple made their home in Carthage, and raised two sons, Blaine and Brice.
After his return from the Guards, Mark worked in Sioux Falls, for a year before moving back to Carthage. He then began farming and working for Land OLakes in Volga. He retired from Land O Lakes after 25 years of employment. Upon retirement, Mark began trucking and custom combining from his home in Carthage.
Mark was a lifelong member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Carthage. He was also a member of the Jaycees. Mark was a volunteer fireman for many years as well.
Mark was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved to spend time with his family, especially the many trips to his childrens and grandchildrens sporting events. Mark was also a fan of the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins. Mark was a great guy and had many friends. He never met anyone he didnt like and was always willing to help someone in need.
Grateful for having shared in Marks life are his wife, Colette of Carthage; his two sons, Blaine (Jessica) Anderson and Brice (Amy) Anderson, both of Huron; four grandchildren, Jaya Anderson, Oakley Anderson and Aubrey (Richard) Bullard of Las Vegas, Nev., and Kyler Cavin of Boseman, Mont.; one great-grandchild, Elaina Bullard of Las Vegas, Nev.; two brothers, Rod Anderson of Madison and Doug (Marnell) Anderson of Bend, Ore.; two sisters-in-law, Patricia (Gary) Junker of Redfield and Angie (Bill) Nibbelink of Flandreau, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, David Anderson and Linden Anderson.
