Letter – Williams 12-7-24

To the Editor:

To end its power of advice and consent and allow the President to choose or dismiss any input of the confirmation process for approval. Thats not a democracy.

Who better than the people he has chosen as department heads, if you are trying to be a dictator on day one? Trump didnt try to go moderate and appeal to the rest of the country. He picked a sex fiend, a dog killer and an anti-vaxxer to head departments on his team. Matt Gaetz can return to the House of Representatives if DeSantis chooses him to occupy the seat he vacated, without a special election.

None of these people are qualified and John Thunes job is to convince common-sense Republicans that this is the direction to take. Insurrectionists from Jan. 6 are skipping court dates. Their guy is in office, so they think their crimes will be forgiven.

Fundamentally, we all want the same things. A lot of people voted on economic anxiety-based on inflation. They gave up their daughters rights for the price of a ham sandwich. Your body, my choice. Dehumanize them first, render them less than human, then abuse them. No more rights for marginalized people.

What is left for Trump to do?

Improve the economy? Done.
Lower unemployment? Done.
Address border crossings? Done.
Increase energy production? Done.
Create a manufacturing boom? Done.
Lower crime? Done.
Improve the nations international standing? Done.

He will, however, mess that up and still claim those improvements for himself. Forty-nine percent of the popular vote is not a landslide.

It means that more people rejected him that approved of him. This is not representative of who we are.
