Emily V. Entwisle, age 97, of Huron

HURON Emily V. Entwisle, age 97, of Huron, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Huron Regional Medical Center.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 10, beginning at 10 am at Welter Funeral Home in Huron. Burial will follow at St. Martin Cemetery. Visitation with her family present will be held on Monday, Dec. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home; and one hour prior to the funeral mass.
Emily Veronica Bullerman was born on July 29, 1927 to Theodore and Martha (Kellen) Bullerman in Nobles County, near Adrian, Minnesota. She was raised on a farm and graduated from St. Adrian High School in 1945. She enrolled in the Presentation School of Nursing (McKennan Unit) at Sioux Falls in June 1945 as a Cadet Nurse and graduated with a RN Degree in 1948. She was first employed at the Adrian Hospital.
On Jan. 3, 1951, Emily married Bob Entwisle at St. Adrian Catholic Church. They made their home in Adrian until September 1951, when they moved to Mitchell, South Dakota. She was employed at St. Josephs Hospital as a supervisor of the pediatric ward until October 1955, when they moved to Huron.
Emily was employed in Huron part-time as a surgical nurse at St. Johns Hospital until 1958. She was then employed at Welter Funeral Home, which she later owned and operated with Bob. She was a licensed funeral director for over 40 years from 1958 until she and Bob retired in 1998.
Emily was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, and the Huron Area Senior Center. Emily and Bob believed in giving back to the Huron community and established a perpetual fund through the Huron Community Foundation. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and providing comfort to the many families she and Bob served over the years at Welter Funeral Home.
She is survived by her two sons, John Entwisle of Hot Springs, and James (Lori) Entwisle of Huron; five grandchildren, Eamin, Megan (Matt), Lavin (Jeremy), Cassidy, and Colin; two great-grandchildren, Raegan and Mason; one sister, Mary Lutmer of Luverne, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; her daughter-in-law, GayLynne Entwisle; her sisters, Berniece Kruger, Rita Kunkel, and Agnes Neuroth; her brother, Ted Bullerman, Jr., three brothers-in-law, Norb Kunkel, Raymond Neuroth, and Delbert Lutmer; and sister-in-law, Henrietta Bullerman.
