Joyce North, 92, of Huron

HURON Long-time resident of Huron, Joyce North, 92, passed away at Avantara Nursing Home on Thanksgiving Day, November 30, 2024.
There will be a celebration of life service in June 2025.
Joyce June Hofer was born June 13, 1932 to Jake and Sarah Hofer on a farm north of Huron. Educated and lived in and around Huron her whole life. Joyce met Ted North when he offered to fix her bicycle. On Feb. 19 Ted and Joyce eloped to Woonsocket, S.D. to be married by the justice of the peace.
Her survivors include their three daughters: Kathleen (Ron) of Huron, Karen (Joe Schnell) Lake Preston, and Debra (Michael Bathke) George, Iowa; five grandchildren: Natalie West (Brad Micheel), Melissa West (Robbie Baruth), Joshua and Matthew Bathke and Michael Hershman (deceased); six great-grandchildren: Jaycee, Samuel, McKenzie and Addyson Baruth; Gabriella and Zane Micheel; Joyces brothers: Delmer (Renee), Jeraine and Robert Hofer, sisters-in-law Judy Hofer and Wanda Hofer; and many beloved nieces and nephews
Preceded in death: Her husband, Ted; grandson, Michael Hershman; brother, Dale Hofer, step-brother Bill Hofer; niece, Penny Hofer. All 16 of Teds brothers and sisters.
