Tigers finish tied for seventh in Watertown Girls’ Tournament

WATERTOWN – The Huron Tigers girls wrestling team finished tied for seventh at Saturdays Watertown Girls Invitational tournament.

Pierre took the team title with 205 points, defeating Canton, who scored 190. Aberdeen Central (129.5), Watertown (102), and Miller/Highmore-Harrold (87.5) rounded out the top five.

Huron tied with Brookings for seventh with 59 team points. Kingsbury County finished ninth with 47 points, Doland (18 points) finished 14th, and Clark Willow Lake (8) finished 15th among area schools.

Reganne Miles of Doland had a strong opening tournament for the year, winning the 165-pound weight class.

Chalie Sah had the best finish for the Tigers, placing second at 107. Say Glay finished fourth at 138. Paola Fernandez Fernandez took fifth at 185.

Reva McGaugh placed sixth at 114 for the Tigers while Snow Wah came in seventh at 107, Mya Shee took eighth at 100 pounds as did Kayla Nunez at 138 and Baw Eh at 145.

Mia Holmstrom finished sixth for Clark/Willow Lake.

Jaidynn Giedd led Kingsbury County with a victory at 152 pounds. Izy Bendorf finished fifth at 132 and Payden Coughlin finished fifth at 120.

While the best finish for Miller/Highmore-Harrold was a third place finish by Kyler Forman at 165 pounds, the Bandits had seven placewinners to take fifth as a team. Gabby Werdel (132) Marah Swartzendruber (107), Dana Wallace (120), and Mohrgan Werdel (126) each placed fourth. Hailey Schafer took fifth at 100 pounds and Hannah Ziegler finished sixth at 132.
