HARRISBURG Multiple Heartland area students received superior ratings at the State Oral Interp Festival, held Dec. 6-7 in Harrisburg.
De Smet, James Valley Christian, and Woonsocket each received a team excellence award for overall performance. De Smets advisor is Lacey Holt, James Valley Christians advisor is Jill Mendel, and Woonsockets advisor is Danielle DeGreef.
Wolsey-Wessingtons readers theatre group of Moshe Richmond, Keaton Zomer, Caleb Richmond, Ashton Hill, and Colin Hughes received a superior rating as did Hurons group of Lily Halter, Isabella Schafer, Keara Gabriel, Landon Pomerico, Henry Van Scharrel, and Charlie Bragg.
McKenzie Baruth and Oscar Anderson of Woonsocket as well as Samuel Gigov and Sophia Gigov of De Smet received superior ratings in duet interpretation.
In poetry reading, Samuel Gigov of De Smet and Belle Niederbaumer each received superior ratings. Lily Halter of Huron also received a superior rating in poetry reading, finishing just shy of a superior with distinction.
Audri Hohm of JVC received a superior in non-original oratory. Woonsockets Andie Aughenbaugh and De Smets Sophia Gigov each received superior marks in serious reading.
