ABERDEEN With the top finisher in each event, Harrisburg used a score of 147.850 to claim the team title at the Hub City Invitational on Saturday.
Watertown was second at 141.300, while Pierre was third at 132.150. Rounding out the top five were Aberdeen Central at 131.850 and Britton-Hecla at 129.600.
Milbank Area was sixth at 126.350 and Huron was seventh at 123.200.
Jersy Tryon was the top finisher in the all-around for Harrisburg with a core of 36.200, however, she was not an event winner.
Meredith Hruby won the beam for Harrisburg with a 9.550 and the floor exercise with a 9.600. Emery Myron won the vault with a 9.800 and Ailee Johnson won the bars with a 9.100.
Maiya Hein was the top finisher for Huron on the vault and bars. She finished tied for 10th on the vault with an 8.650 and shared the 19th spot on the bars with a 7.250.
Were showing improvements, Huron coach Julie King said. Maiya had a beautiful handspring full.
Ellie Putergaugh led a strong showing on the balance beam for the Tigers, with an 8.500 to finish 11th. Maria Wilson was 13th with an. 8.350, while Alivia Cunard and Hein shared the 18th spot with scores of 7.750.
Ellie Puterbaugh, Maiya Hein and Kaydence Cronin all had no fall beam routines, along with Maria Wilson and Alivia Cunard having only one fall, King said. That shows a huge beam improvement.
Puterbaugh tied for 14th in the floor exercise for Huron with an 8.500, while Cunard and Hein were in spots No. 17 and 19, respectively, with scores of 8.300 and 8.050.
Hein used a score of 31.700 to finish 14th in the all-around for Huron, while Puterbaugh was 16th at 30.650. Cunard had an all-around score of 28.100, while Cronin turned in a 27.550.
Huron will close the 2024 portion of its schedule at the Mitchell Invitational at 9 a.m. Saturday.
