Iroquois students attend STARBASE

IROQUOIS Iroquois fifth-grade students and their teacher, Heidi Stroud, attended the Department of Defense STARBASE from Dec. 9-12.

STARBASE focuses on elementary students, primarily fifth graders, to motivate them to explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) as they continue their education.

The program engages students through the inquiry-based curriculum with its hands-on, mind-on activities.

Surveys have shown that students who attend Department of Defense STARBASE improve their attitudes about and their confidence in STEM courses.

STARBASE South Dakota serves approximately 3,600 fifth grade students each school year.
