HURON A state-ranked matchup will close the opening session of the Huron Holiday Classic today at Huron Arena.
Sanborn Central/Woonsocket, which is ranked No. 2 in Class B, will face No. 4-ranked Lyman at 7:30 p.m., to cap the slate of seven girls basketball games to be played today.
Sanborn Central/Woonsocket brings a 2-0 record into the contest, while Lyman is 3-0.
Kicking off the slate of games for today will be James Valley Christian, which is 0-2, vs. Jones County, which is 3-1.
Howard (0-5) will look to earn its first win of the season, when it faces Kimball/White Lake (1-3) at noon.
De Smet brings in a 2-1 record and will face Lower Brule (1-4) at 3 p.m.
A pair of 1-loss teams will meet at 4:30 p.m., as Colman-Egan (4-1) battles Faulkton Area (3-1).
In another 1-loss matchup, Clark/Willow Lake (2-1) faces Warner (3-1) at 6 p.m.
Boys
A trio of undefeated teams are slated to compete in the boys portion of the Huron Holiday Classic on Monday at Huron Arena.
In the opening game of the 7-game slate, Jones County (2-2) will face Mitchell Christian (0-2) at 10:30 a.m.
Burke and Langford Area, which are both 0-3, will be looking to earn their first win when they meet at noon.
Faulkton Area brings in a 2-2 record and will face Lower Brule (3-2) at 1:30 p.m.
James Valley Christian puts its unblemished 2-0 mark on the line against Lyman (2-1) at 3 p.m.
Sanborn Central/Woonsocket will also be looking to stay unbeaten after starting the season 2-0, when it faces Chamberlain (0-3) at 4:30 p.m.
Wessington Springs, which is receiving votes in the Class B rankings with a 1-1 mark, will battle Elk Point-Jefferson (2-3) at 6 p.m.
In the final game of the day at 7:30 p.m., Clark/Willow Lake, which opened the season 3-0, will face Howard, which is tied for fifth in Class B at 3-1.
Admission tickets will cover all seven games for that day.
