HURON In their final meeting of 2024, the Huron City Commission approved a contract for city attorney services for 2025 with David Wheeler of Blue, Wheeler and Banks LLP.
The contract was changed from a four-year contract that has been utilized in the past to a single-year contract. Rate will be $8,000 per month with an hourly rate for services outside the contract for the city payable at $250 per hour.
Commissioners addressed the contract and the change in meeting attendance from required to at the request of a commissioner or the Mayor. The commission also reviewed a section regarding reviewing state legislation with city officials and city departments. Commissioners recognized that Wheeler would have a potential conflict of interest as a state legislator, but the consensus was that a representative from the firm could assist with anything that could be a conflict with Wheeler.
The contract was unanimously approved.
