Clark/Willow Lake wins title at Webster Area Invitational

WEBSTER With five individual champions, Clark/Willow Lake won the team title at the Webster Area Invitational on Saturday.

The Cyclones amassed 195 points to claim the championship. Groton Area tallied 147.5 points to edge Miller/Highmore-Harrold by two points for the second spot.
Rounding out the top five were Sisseton at 144 and Deuel at 131.5.

Winning individual championships for Clark/Willow Lake were Cade Gaikowski at 106 pounds, Kaden Wookey at 113, Cooper Pommer at 121, Elliot Bratland at 165 and Josh Kannegieter at 190.

Benny Pommer at 106 and Isaac Johnson at 132 were third for the Cyclones, while Logan Foster at 138 and Austin Vig at 150 were fourth.

Miller/Highmore-Harrold had four individual championships.

Earning the top spot for the Bandits were Talon Ping at 126, Sam Crago at 138, Kellen Hurd at 144 and Colby Kolda at 175.

JD Chavez at 126 and Chase Hurd at 132 were second for Miller/Highmore-Harrold, while Kia McCauley was third at 138 and Cade Werdel was fourth at 132.

Hurd second for Miller/Highmore-Harrold at Rumble on the Red
FARGO, N.D. Kellen Hurd of Miller/Highmore-Harrold finished second at 139 pounds during the 2025 Rumble on the Red, which concluded Saturday at the FargoDome.

The 30-team event, included teams from North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska and Montana.

After receiving a bye in the opening round, Hurd recorded a 17-1 technical fall over Brody Kramer of Bismarck Legacy (N.D.) in 2:18.

A 17-2 tech fall at 3:19 over Dane Ellingsberg of Moorhead (Minn.) earned Hurd a spot in the semifinals. He reached the championship match with pin at 5:17 against Myles Sanchez of Creighton Prep (Neb.).

In the title match, Christian Jelle of Grand Rapids (Minn.), who improved to 19-0, recorded a pin against the 2:43 mark against Hurd, who is now 12-1.

Also competing in the event for Miller/Highmore-Harrold was Jaymin VanDerWerff at 121 and Chase Hurd at 127.

Kingsbury County fifth at MC/M Invitational
SALEM With 10 place winners, Kingsbury County finished fifth at the McCook Central/Montrose Invitational on Saturday.

Canton used 234 points to claim the team title, while Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes was second at 220.5. Winner was third at 184.5, followed by Bon Homme/Avon at 160.5 and Kingsbury County at 144.

Redfield was seventh at 108.5, whiles Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington shared the 15th spot at 43.

Kaleb Johnson at 165 pounds and Gannon Gilligan at 132 were third for Kingsbury County. Cody Zell at 126, Greyson Nielson at 144, Blake Jennings at 150 and Breyten Johnson at 215 were fifth.

Chase Henriksen at 106, Karsten Lerwick at 120 and Donovan Sandven at 157 were sixth for the Knights. Lane Albrecht was eighth at 132.

Collin Dean at 165 and Camden Murray at 215 wrestled for championships for Redfield, but finished second. Maddon Odland at 106 and Conner Zens at 144 were third.

Chace Odland was fifth for the Pheasants at 113, while Kasey Hermann at 132 and Dalton Rathjen at 285 were seventh.

Jacksen Carter at 132 was second for Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington. Ashton Hill was sixth at 138 and Carson Finn was seventh at 157.

Miller/Highmore-Harrold girls second at Mc/M Invitational
SALEM With seven place winners, Miller/Highmore-Harrold finished second at the McCook Central/Montrose Girls Invitational on Saturday.

Canton won the team championship with 225 points, while Miller/Highmore-Harrold finished at 125.5.

Rounding out the top five were Viborg-Hurley/Irene-Wakonda at 114.5, Mitchell at 77 and Sisseton 56.

Kingsbury County was sixth at 50.5, while Doland, which had a pair of individual champions, shared the seventh spot at 49. Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington tied for 16th at 22.

Hailey Schafer was second for Miller/Highmore-Harrold at 110 pounds, while Gabby Werdel was third at 138.

Mohrgan Werdel at 126, Hannah Zeigler at 132 and Kyler Foreman at 165 were fourth for the Bandits. Dana Wallace at 120 and Mahli Bresson at 145 were fifth.

Kyla Logan at 132 and Reganne Miles at 165 won individual championships for Doland.

Jaidynn Giedd claimed the top spot at 152 for Kingsbury County, while Jaylynn Johnson was fourth at 100.

Bailey Yost was third at 114 for Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington.

Redfield wins two in Faulkton
FAULKTON Redfield earned a pair of wins during a quadrangular on Friday in Faulkton.

The Pheasant won 46-9 against Potter County and defeated Faulkton Area 48-24.
The lone setback for Redfield was a 48-29 loss to Stanley County.
