Watertown inks win against All-Stars

HURON With two goals in each of the second and third periods, Watertown recorded a 4-1 victory against the Huron All-Stars on Friday at Bergman Arena.

Huron had the opening goal of the game in the second period, as Monte Bogh scored on a pass from Jack Pedersen.

The 1-goal advantage lasted until the 6:54 mark of the second period, when Colton Kasuske scored the first goal for the Lakers on an unassisted shot.

Just over a minute later, Watertown used a power play opportunity to take the lead. Kowynn Muhl scored on a pass from Bailey Dorneman.

A pair of goals by Mylan Evans in the third period padded the lead for the Lakers. The first was assisted by Dorneman, while the second came during a short-handed situation with just 30 seconds remaining in the game on a pass from Quinten Jorgenson.

The Lakers had 39 shots in the game, with Huron goalie Jack Bales stopping 34 of them.

Kohl Nygaard had 17 saves to earn the win for Watertown, which improved to 4-5.

Huron (0-9) will travel to play Brookings at 8 p.m. Friday.

In their previous outing, the All-Stars suffered a 3-0 loss to Yankton on Dec. 28 at Bergman Arena.

Jack Pedersen, Tucker Renken and Kaden Hunhoff had goals for the Bucks, who outshot Huron 61-11 in the game.

Bales finished with 58 saves for the All-Stars.

Junior Varsity
Grady Bodsberg had three goals as Watertown rallied for a 5-4 victory against Huron in a junior varsity game on Friday at Bergman Arena.

Also scoring for the Lakers were Lane Janssen and Aidyn Melville.

The All-Stars had the first four goals in the game.

Bogh opened the scoring with the lone goal of the opening period for Huron. Carlos Ardon assisted on the play.

Ardon then scored the first of three goals for the All-Stars in the second period on a pass from Ryder Casper Houghtaling.

Jace Bales had the second goal on an unassisted shot and Micah Larson capped the scoring on a pass from Ardon.

Kaleb Rashaad had 25 saves in the net for Huron, which is 2-7.

The Huron JV earned its second win of the season in its previous outing with a 3-1 victory against Yankton at Bergman Arena.

Elliot Hartman had a pair of goals for the All-Stars. The first was unassisted in the opening period, while the second came on a pass from Jace Bales in the third period.

Jace Bales had the other goal for Huron in the opening period on a pass from Mason Hunter.

Rashaad earned the win with 24 saves for the All-Stars.
