MILLER Six area wrestlers won championships during the Bob Lager Invitational, which was held Saturday.
Philip/Kadoka Area/Wall tallied 186.5 points to win the team title in the 19-team event, which Bon Homme/Avon was second at 178.5.
Parkston was third at 162.5, followed by Clark/Willow Lake at 150.5, Redfield at 135, Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessingotn at 95 and Miller/Highmore-Harrold at 91.5.
Sunshine Bible Academy was 17th at 20.5.
Clark/Willow Lake and Miller/Highmore-Harrold each had a pair of champions.
Winning titles for Clark/Willow Lake were Kaden Wookey at 113 pounds and Elliot Bratland at 165.
Miller/Highmore-Harrold wrestlers earning championships were Talon Ping at 126 and Kellan Hurd at 144.
Other area wrestlers winning titles were Camden Murray of Redfield at 215 and Jacksen Carter of Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington at 132.
Clark/Willow Lake had a total of 11 place winners.
Cade Gaikowski at 106, Cooper Pommer at 120 and Josh Kannegieter at 190 were second for the Cyclones. Damian Severson was fifth at144, while Kooper Wookey was seventh at 132.
Isaac Johnson at 132 and Austin Vig at 150 were seventh for Clark/Willow Lake, and Aksel Gjerde at 113 and Riley Popp at 215 were eighth.
Connor Zens was second for Redfield at 144, while Maddon Odland at 106 was third.
Finishing fourth for the Pheasants were Chace Odland at 113 and Collin Dean at 165. Dalton Rathen was fifth at 285, Kasey Hermann was sixth at 132 and Caleb Nelson was eighth at 120.
Holden Havlik was second for WS/W/W-W at 215, while Ethan Rearick was fourth at 150. Roman Rearick was sixth at 144, while Chase Dunsmore qt 120 and Carson Finn at 157 were seventh.
Chase Hurd was third for Miller/Highmore-Harrold at 132, while Jordan Schafer and Kia McCauley were fourth at fifth, respectively, at 138.
Jimmy Burma was fifth for Sunshine Bible Academy at 215.
Kingsbury County sixth at Mid Dakota Monster Invitational
PRESHO With nine place winners, Kingsbury County finished sixth in the Mid Dakota Monster Invitational, which concluded Saturday.
Canton won the two-day event, which involved 30 teams, with 246.5. Tea Area was second at 230, followed by Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes at 225.5. Winner was fourth at 206, followed by Pierre at 200 and Kingsbury County at 154.5.
The top finishers for the Knights were Cody Zell at 126 pounds, Greyson Nielson at 144 and Kaleb Johnson at 165, who all were third.
Chase Henriksen at 106 and Gannon Gilligan at 132 were fourth, while Breyten Johnson at 215 was fifth. Rogan Albrecht at 126 was sixth, Blake Jennings at 150 was seventh and Lane Albrecht at 132 was eighth.
Giedd, Miles second in Bride of the Monster Invitational
A pair of area girls finished second during the Mid Dakota Bride of the Monster Invitational, which concluded Saturday.
Jaidynn Giedd of Kingsbury County was second at 152, while Reganne Miles of Doland was second at 165.
Kyla Logan of Doland was fifth at 132.
Pierre claimed the team title in the 30-team event with 205 points, while Canton was second at 184. Rounding out the top five were Harrisburg at 126, Custer at 113.5 and Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon at 112.5.
