Area teams participate in Battler Invitational
GETTYSBURG Four Heartland teams participated in the Battler Invitational on Saturday with two finishing in the top five in team scoring.
Chamberlain won the team title with 169.5 points, edging out Clark/Willow Lake, who placed second with 165 points.
Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington finished fifth with 127 points. Sunshine Bible Academy recorded 21.5 points.
Winning titles for the Clark/Willow Lake Cyclones were Cade Gaikowski at 106 pounds, Kaden Wookey at 113, Cooper Pommer at 120, Elliot Bratland at 165, and Josh Kannegieter at 190.
The Warhawks claimed two titles, with Jacksen Carter taking first at 132 pounds and Holden Havlik winning the meet at 215.
The Cyclones are back on the mat Tuwesy in Willow Lake, hosting a triangular. The Warhawks are back in action on Saturday at the Parkston Little 8 tourney while Sunshine Bible Academy returns to Gettysburg Thursday for a triangular.
Bandits sixth at Tri-Valley Invite
COLTON The Miller/Highmore-Harrold Bandits placed sixth as a team at the Tri-Valley Invitational Saturday in Colton.
Tea Area took the team title with 224 points, edging out Winner, who had 216.5.
The Bandits recorded 142 team points to place sixth.
Winning the lone title for Miller/Highmore-Harrold was Chase Hurd at 132 pounds.
Talon Ping (126 pounds), Jordan Schafer (138), Kellen Hurd (144), and Colby Kolda (175) all finished second for the Bandits.
The Bandits are back on the mat Thursday in a triangular at Potter County.
Heartland girls wrestlers participate in Battler Invite
GETTYSBURG Multiple Heartland Area girls wrestling teams participated in Fridays Battler Girls Invite at Gettysburg.
South Border won the team competition with 106.5 points. Lemmon came in second with 89 points.
Kingsbury County finished best of Heartland teams, placing seventh with 32 points.
Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington finished with 31 team points and Clark/Willow Lake had 30 points.
Heartland title winners included Camille Rearick of the Warhawks at 145 pounds and Jaidynn Giedd of Kingsbury County at 152 pounds
Kadee Frankfurth of Clark/Willow Lake took second at 107 pounds. Kingsbury Countys Jaylynn Johnson (100 pounds) and Bailey Yost (114) of the Warhawks each finished third place in their weight division.
