Blackhawks, Pirates to meet in 281 Conference girls final

HURON The Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Blackhawks, receiving votes in the most recent Class B tournament, pulled away over the course of a 68-38 victory over the Wessington Springs Lady Spartans in 281 Conference semifinal action at Huron Arena.

Liz Boshee had a big game with 29 points for the Blackhawks, now 8-2. The top seed in the 281 tournament also received 14 points from Alexa Goertz and 10 points from Addi Bartholow.

Kerstynn Heim led the Lady Spartans (4-6) with 15 points. Kenzie Kolousek added 10.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket will face Highmore-Harrold in the championship at 6 p.m. Thursday at Huron Arena, while Wessington Springs will play Hitchcock-Tulare for third place at 3 p.m. Thursday at Huron Arena.

HURON The Highmore-Harrold Pirates defeated the Hitchcock-Tulare Lady Patriots by the score of 68-50 Monday at Huron Arena to earn a spot in the 281 Conference championship game on Thursday.

The Pirates were led by 27 points from Jada Baloun. Autumn Fallis added 13 points and Tenley McDonnell had 10 points as Highmore-Harrold moves to 9-1.

The Lady Patriots (4-5) were led by Gracyn Bixler with 14 points. Katelyn Schroeder added 13 points.

The Pirates will face top seed Sanborn Central/Woonsocket in the title game at 6 p.m. Thursday at Huron Arena, while the Lady Patriots will face Wessington Springs for third place at 3 p.m. Thursday at Huron Arena. .
