James Valley Christian 53, Highmore-Harrold 42
HURON In a rematch of the 281 Conference Tournament fifth-place game played last week, the James Valley Christian Vikings again came out on top, defeating the Highmore-Harrold Pirates 53-42 Tuesday at the JVC gym.

Highmore-Harrold jumped out to a 16-10 lead in the first quarter and led 30-26 at half, but the Vikings clamped down on defense from that point, allowing just 12 points the entire second half to earn the victory.

The Vikings move to 6-4 behind 20 points from Jerrad Wallman and 17 points, including four three-point baskets, from Tayne Herrmann.

The Pirates fell to 3-8 despite three players in double figures, led by Caleb Roth with 12.

Brooks McPeak and Aiden Ferens each bucketed 11 points.

The Vikings travel to Miller Thursday. The Pirates host Ipswich on Saturday.

MILLER Behind 22 points from Kendal Uttecht, the Wolsey-Wessington Lady Warbirds secured a 51-34 victory over the Sunshine Bible Academy Crusaders Tuesday at the SBA Event Center.

Uttecht also paced the Lady Warbirds, now 7-7, with six rebounds. Kenli Hooks added nine points and Taylor Eichstadt and Raya Toupal each had eight.

The Crusaders fall to 2-9 despite 13 points and eight rebounds from Ciera Mickelson. Abby Hinman added nine.

Wolsey-Wessington travels to Highmore-Harrold on Thursday while SBA hosts Aberdeen Christian on Friday.

FORESTBURG The Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Blackhawks, receiving votes in the most recent Class B poll, jumped out to a 24-11 lead after one quarter en route to a 66-47 win over the Hanson Beaverettes on Tuesday at Sanborn Central High School.

Liz Boschee had a big game for the Blackhawks, now 10-2, with 25 points and eight rebounds. Alexa Goertz added 16 points, six rebounds, and four steals, while Kaylie Robinson dished out six assists.

Hanson (4-9) was led by Kylie Haiar with 15 points and eight rebounds.

The Blackhawks won the JV game by a 29-20 score.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket travels to face Wessington Springs in a 281 Conference matchup on Thursday.
