Brandon Valley edges All-Stars in overtime

HURON A goal with just 35 second left in overtime lifted the Brandon Valley IceCats to a 9-8 victory against the Huron All-Stars on Sunday at Bergman Arena.

The All-Stars led 2-1 after the opening period.

After Brandon Valley scored the opening goal, Huron netted a pair of goals less than a minute apart to snag the 2-1 advantage.

Jace Bales had the first goal for the All-Stars on an unassisted shot with 2:14 remaining in the opening period. Ryder Casper Houghtaling found the net 37 seconds later on a pass from Diego Colon.

The two teams swapped goals throughout the second period.

Monte Bogh scored on a power play just over a minute into the period to give Huron a 3-1 lead. He was assisted on the play by Mason Hunter.

After the IceCats narrowed their deficit back to a goal, Jack Pedersen scored on an unassisted shot during a power play to put the All-Stars ahead by two again at 4-2.

Brandon Valley would even the score with the final two goals of the second period.

Each team would find the net four times in the third period to head into overtime with an 8-8 deadlock.

Scoring in the final period for Huron were Bogh, Carlos Ardon, Hunter and Jaxon Greenfield.

Hunter, Colon and Greenfield recorded assists.

The All-Stars finished with a 45-32 shots-on-goal advantage, with Jack Bales tallying 23 saves in the net.

Huron, which is now 1-14, travels to play Watertown on Saturday.

On Saturday, the Oahe Capitals rallied for a 3-2 victory against Huron.

The All-Stars led 2-0 after the opening period.

Bogh opened the scoring with an unassisted goal. Ardon had the second goal with an assist going to Casper-Houghtalling.

Oahe pulled event with two goals in the second period and claimed the win with the lone goal in the third period.

Bales stopped 29 of the 32 shots he faced in the net for Huron. The All-Stars managed just 10 shots on goal, including just one each the final two periods.
