MONTROSE With a pair of individual champions, Kingsbury County won the title at the Big East/Lake Central Conference Tournament on Saturday.
The Knights finished with 176 points to top the 15-team field. Clark/Willow Lake was second at 151, followed by Elk Point-Jefferson at 138, Mt. Vernon/Plankinton at 113 and Beresford/Alcester-Hudson at 110.
Winning championships for Kingsbury County were Gannon Gilligan at 132 pounds and Greyson Nielson at 144. Cody Zell at 126, Caden Singrey at 138 and Breyten Johnson at 215 were second.
Chase Henriksen at 106 and Kaleb Johnson at 165 were third for the Knights, while Blake Jennings at 150, Donovan Sandven at 157 and Marshall Holz at 190 were fourth.
Clark/Willow Lake also had a pair of individual champions, with Kaden Wookey winning at 113 and Josh Kannegieter claiming the top spot at 190.
Cade Gaikowski at 106, Cooper Pommer at 120 and Elliot Bratland at 165 were second for the Cyclones, while Austin Vig at 144 was third and Benny Pommer at 126 and Riley Popp at 215 were fourth.
Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington sixth at Redfield Invite
REDFIELD Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington, which had a pair of wrestlers reach the championship round, finished sixth at the Redfield Invite on Saturday.
Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes won the 17-team event with 234.5 points. Tri-Valley was second at 209.5, followed by Madison at 200.5, Parkston at 199.5 and Sisseton at 126.5.
Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessingotn finished just outside the top five with 111 points. Redfield was eighth at 81.5 and Sunshine Bible Academy was 16th at 13.
Jacksen Carter won a championship for Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington at 132 pounds. Holden Havlik was second at 215.
Chase Dunsmore at 120, Ashton Hill at 138, Ethan Rearick at 144 and Carson Finn at 150 were all fourth for the Warhawks.
Camden Murray claimed and individual championship at 215 for Redfield, while Chace Odland at 113 and Dylan Murray at 190 were second. Axel Deyoung was firth at 106 and Collin Dean was sixth at 165.
Jimmy Burma was fifth for Sunshine Bible Academy at 215.
Bandits third in BDC Tournament
FORT PIERRE Will all 10 of its wrestlers earning placings, including a trio of individual champions, Miller/Highmore-Harrold was third in the Big Dakota Conference Tournament on Saturday.
Winner won the 9-team event with 277.5 points, while Chamberlain was second at 167.5. The Bandits were third at 150.5, followed by Stanley County at 108 and Cheyenne-Eagle Butte/Dupree/Tiospaye Topa at 63.
Winning championships for Miller/Highmore-Harrold were Talon Ping at 126 pounds, Chase Hurd at 132 and Kellan Hurd at 144.
Also reaching title matches for the Bandits, but finishing second were Will Hosman at 106, Preston Aesoph at 113 and Jaymin VanDerWerff at 120.
JD Chavez at 126, Kia McCauley at 132 and Same Crago at 138 were third for Miller/Highmore-Harrold, while Johnny Alpizar was fifth at 150.
Miller/Highmore-Harrold girls second in BDC Tournament
FORT PIERRE Miller/Highmore-Harrold was second at the Big Dakota Conference Girls Tournament on Saturday.
Lakota Tech won the 18-team event with 100.5 points, while Miller/Highmore-Harrold was second at 75. Rounding out the top five were Bennett County at 63.5, Stanley County at 63 and Clark/Willow Lake at 58.
Doland was 11th at 34.5, followed by Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington at 34.
Hailey Schafer at 100 pounds and Dana Wallace at 120 were second for Miller/Highmore-Harrold. Kyler Foreman was third at 152, while Morah Swartzendruber was fourth at 107.
Hadley Gjerde at 114 and Mia Holmstrom at 126 were third for Clark/Willow Lake. Cadence Bochek was fourth at 120 and Kadee Frankfurth was fifth at 100.
Kyla Logan at 132 and Reganne Miles at 152 were second for Doland, while Gracelynn Decker was fourth at 114.
Bailey Yost was second for Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington at 114, while Camille Rearick was fourth at 138.
