MITCHELL With the help of seven goals in the second period, the Mitchell Marlins inked a 10-3 victory against the Huron All-Stars on Sunday.
Both teams had a goal in the opening period. After Mitchell
scored, Huron capitalized on a power play with a goal by Jack Pedersen on a pass from Jaxon Greenfield to even the score at 1-1 heading into the second period.
The Marlins regained the advantage with the first of its seven goals in the second period, but the lead lasted just over a minute as Pedersen found the net for a second. He scored on a pass from Elliot Harman to pull the All-Stars even at 2-2.
Mitchell would then score six unanswered goals to carry an 8-2 lead into the final period.
Pedersen would earn the hat trick for Huron with his third goal of the game on an unassisted shot early in the third period.
Mitchell had the final two goals to cap the scoring.
The All-Stars outshot Mitchell 34-32, but werent able to get the puck past goalie Ian Vaughan, who had 31 saves.
Huron goalie Jack Bales had 22 saves.
The All-Stars, who are now 2-16, are now off until Feb. 22, when they travel to face Sioux Falls East.
