Kingsbury County wins Region 1B

HAYTI With nine state qualifiers, including one individual champion, Kingsbury County claimed the Region 1B Tournament championship on Saturday.

The Knights amassed 191.5 points to secure the top spot, while Clark/Willow Lake, which had a trio of individual champions, was second at 172.

Rounding out the top five were Sisseton at 166.5, Faulkton Area at 160 and Groton Area at 158.5.

Redfield was sixth in the 17-team event at 131.5.

Winning an individual championship for Kingsbury County was Gannon Gilligan at 132 pounds.

Kaleb Johnson at 165 and Breyten Johnson at 215 were second for the Knights, while Chase Henriksen at 106, Cody Zell at 126, Greyson Nelson at 144, Blake Jennings at 150 and Donovan Sandven at 157 were third.
Marshall Holz at 190 was fourth for Kingsbury County at 190.

With the top four in each weight class qualifying for the state tournament, Karsten Lerwick at 120 and Caden Singrey at 128 just missed state berths for the Knights by finishing fifth.

Winning championships for Clark/Willow Lake were Cade Gaikowski at 106, Elliot Bratland at 165 and Josh Kannegieter at 190.

Kaden Wookey was second for the Cyclones at 113, while Cooper Pommer at 120 and Isaac Johnson at 132 were third and Benny Pommer at 126 was fourth.

Austin Vig was fifth for Clark/Willow lake at 144, while Riley Popp was sixth at 215.

Camden Murray won an individual title for Redfield at 215, while Maddon Odland at 106, Conner Zens at 138 and Dylan Murray at 190 were second. Collin Dean finished third at 165 to reach the state tournament.

Chace Odland at 113 and Dalton Rathjen at 285 were fifth for the Pheasants, just missing a state berth.

The Class B State Tournament begins Thursday and runs through Saturday at the Monument in Rapid City.
