FORT PIERRE The Wessington Springs Spartans, seeded fourth in the SoDak 16, jumped out early on the Timber Lake Panthers and never looked back on the way to a 75-49 victory.
Karter Mebius led the Spartans, 21-2, with 25 points. Colby Flowers added 19 points.
Ryder Michalek put in 10 points for Wessington Springs and grabbed nine rebounds.
Kenton Hung led Timber Lake (15-8) with 12 points. Treyden Beer added 10 points.
The Spartans will open the State B tournament on March 20 in Aberdeen as the fourth seed, facing the Wall Eagles in the first round at 1:45 p.m.
In the other opening round matchups, No. 8 Lyman plays No. 1 Castlewood at noon; No. 2 St. Marys plays Aberdeen Christian at 6 p.m. and No. 3 Viborg-Hurley plays No. 6 Freeman at 7:45 p.m.
