Bubbles and Books Storytime Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. Join us for a delightful storytime filled with bubbles, books, and fun! This event is perfect for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers.
After the Bell Early Release Wednesday Wednesday, April 2, 1:30 3:15 p.m. Kids in grades K-3 will have a blast with our Peeps-themed activities! Registration is now open sign up today to join the fun!
National Library Week Scavenger Hunt & Obstacle Courses April 6 12. Stop by the library during National Library Week and take part in an exciting scavenger hunt! Plus, challenge yourself with one of our floor obstacle courses designed to keep kids active, engaged, and thinking!

Tweens and Teens

The Tween/Teen section of the library is always buzzing with activity! Here are a few highlights for the month:
Money Smarts & Pizza Party Friday, April 18, 1:30 2:30 p.m. Join BMOs Bank Manager, Ryan Maxted, for an interactive lesson on financial literacy. Topics include: Counting back money, explaining checks, and understanding debit vs. credit cards. Learn the cash game in a fun and engaging way and enjoy pizza along the way! Registration is required.
Third Annual Easter Eggstravaganza Monday, April 21, 10 – 11:30 a.m. Meet at the library to receive book clues, then embark on a city-wide scavenger hunt! Teams will have one hour to decipher clues. The winning team is the first to return with the most correct answers, earning a spot in the Easter Eggstravaganza Hall of Fame! Registration is required.
Adult Programs
Author Talk & Book Signing with Jodi Culliney April 3, 6 p.m. Meet author Jodi Culliney, a former bookstore clerk and lifelong book lover from South Dakota, now living in Brooklyn, NY. Jodi will share insights into her writing journey and discuss her novels, Excess Baggage and Cutting Losses stories of love, self-discovery, and second chances. Books will be available for purchase, and attendees will be entered into a drawing to win a free copy! Dont miss this opportunity to meet the author, hear about her inspiration, and get your books signed!
Coffee Chat Series
April 1, 6:30 p.m. Brad Letcher, P.E., Huron Area Engineer for the South Dakota Department of Transportation, will discuss the reconstruction project on Dakota Avenue and other upcoming projects in the area.
April 8, 6:30 p.m. Jen Bragg, Executive Director for the United Way Heartland Region, will share information about the Backpack Program. Jen has been a part of Huron for nearly 20 years and works to pair available resources with community needs. Join her to learn about the United Ways work in Beadle County, current partner agencies, and upcoming grant opportunities for non-profits.
April 22, 6:30 p.m. Ben Chase, Editor for the Huron Plainsman, will join us to share his experiences at the paper and more. Ben, a Huron native, has had a diverse career path before becoming the managing editor of the Plainsman. He will discuss his journey and the papers role in the community.
Behind the Lens: Mastering Smartphone Photography April 15, 6 p.m. Join us for a ZOOM presentation by Wendy Gerlach, Behind the Lens PHONE-TOGRAPHY, sponsored by the Huron Area Photography Club. Wendy will share expert tips and techniques on how to capture stunning landscapes, portraits, and special moments using just a smartphone. Whether you are a photography enthusiast or want to improve your everyday photos, dont miss this opportunity to enhance your skills.
Medicare 101 Educational Meeting April 28, 6 p.m. Do you have questions about Medicare? Are you overwhelmed by the TV ads or postcards flooding your mailbox? Join Brenda Arteman and Betty Thomas of 1st Stop Insurance for an informative Medicare 101 session. Learn about Medicare benefits, supplemental plans, prescription drug plans, Medicare Advantage plans, and how to sign up for Medicare.
The library will open at 10:30 a.m. on April 10 for staff training.
