A boys, AA girls earn pair of wins at 3-Class Shootout

SALEM Dakota Valley teammates Logan Collette andLuke Bruns helped the Class A boys to a pair of victories during the 37th Annual 3-Class Shootout on Saturday at the McCook Central Auditorium.

Collette, who was the Class A boys MVP, had 26 points to lead the Class A team past the Class AA team 131-128 in the opening game.

Bruns added 22 points and had a team-high 14 rebounds and 13 assists, while Benson Kieffer of Rapid City Christian had 19 points. Also reaching double figures were Kyle Virtue of Custer with 16, Maverick Nelson of Sioux Calley with 15 and Ben Brooks of Madison with 10.

Tommy Hoffman of Sioux Falls Washington led the Class AA team with 28 points and 12 rebounds. He was also named to the Class AA MVP.

Dyler Segrist of Rapid City Stevens added 22 points for Class AA, while Ryan Heinert of Sturgis had 16 points and Gavin Hinker and Austin Terveen of OGorman each had 14 points. Marshall Smythe of Tea added 11 points.

Collette then put up 32 points to help Class A past Class B 122-101 in the final game.

Kieffer had 25 points for Class A, while Bruns had 18 points and Julius Frog of Rapid City Christian and Kaden Montana of Stanley County added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Bryon Laue of Castlewood had 21 points to lead the Class B team. He was also named the Class B MVP and was the winner of the dunk contest between the two boys games.

Blair Ham of Lemmon had 17 points for Class B, followed by Trevon Beckman of St. Marys at 14, Wyat James of Estelline/Hendricks at 12 and Moshe Richmond of Wolsey-Wessington with 10 points.

Beckman and Laue each had 12 rebounds.

Girls
The Class AA girls emerged with a pair of wins during the 37th Annual 3-Class Shootout on Saturday at the McCook Central Auditorium.

Grace Peterson of Sioux Falls Washington had 15 points and nine rebounds to help Class AA edge Class A 83-76 in the opening game.

Logan Smidt of Brookings and Mya Kochuten of Spearfish had 14 and 13 points, respectively, for Class AA. Taaliyah Porter of Rapid City Stevens and Lauren Van Overschelde of Mitchell each had nine points.

Sloane Keszler of St. Thomas More was the MVP for the Class A girls, with 13 points and six assists. Kirsta Langager of Sisseton had 11 points, while Ava Hanson of Aberdeen Roncalli had 10 points and Cameryn Sommervold of Dakota Valley added nine points.

The Class AA girls then edged the Class B girls 80-79 in the second game.
Kochuten was named the MVP for Class AA with 19 points. Porter had 14 points, followed by Peterson with 12 points and seven rebounds.

Kaylee Voelker of Colman-Egan had 23 points to lead Class B, while Emma Marshall of Centerville had 21 points. Voelker was named as the Class B MVP.

Alexa Goertz of Sanborn Central/Woonsocket also reached double figures with 11 points, while teammate Kaylie Robinson had four points and six rebounds.
