HURON For the second time in as many years, Hurons Blake Ellwein was a first team Class AA all-state section.
The 2025 edition of the AA all-state team, which was selected by the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association, was announced today.
Ellwein, a 6-foot, 9-inch junior, was the tallest member of the first team. He averaged 21.4 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game this season for the Tigers.
Blake has worked hard behind the scenes to perfect his game, Huron coach Tim Buddenhagne said. He is a unique player with size and a skill set of a guard. He is a match up nightmare for our opponents.
Senior Markus Talley of Mitchell was named as the Class AA Player of the Year.
Also on the first team are senior Landon Dulaney of Brandon Valley; junior Sam DeGroot of Sioux Falls Lincoln, senior Gilbert White Jr. of Rapid City Central; and junior Sam Ericsson of Sioux Falls Lincoln.
Sophomore Brody Schafer of Sioux Falls Lincoln leads the second team and is joined by sophomore Griffin Wiebenga of Tea Area; senior Nolan Krull of Harrisburg; senior Gavin Hinker of Mitchell; senior Tommy Hoffman of Sioux Falls Washington; senior Dylon Doren of Spearfish; and junior Colton Smith of Mitchell.
Honorable mention went to senior Luke Olson of Pierre; senior Nyun Dut of OGorman; senior Ryan Heinert of Sturgis; senior Dayler Segrist of Rapid City Stevens; and senior Austin Terveen of OGorman.
