Area track and field 4-9-25

Area teams participate in Scott Underwood Invitational Monday
BROOKINGS Four area schools participated in the Scott Underwood Invitational on Monday in Brookings.

The Clark/Willow Lake girls finished best among area teams, placing tenth with 23.5 team points. Sioux Falls Christian ran away with the team title in the event with 138.5 points.

Iroquois/Lake Preston had five points to finish 20th.

Sioux Falls Christian won a tight team battle on the boys side, amassing 95 points to edge out Spirit Lake, who had 94.5 points.

James Valley Christian had the best finish among area teams, with seven team points to place 15th. Miller had six points as a team and Clark/Willow Lake had four team points.

Spartans, Blackhawks participate in Ethan/Parkston Early Bird meet
PARKSTON The Wessington Springs Spartans and Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Blackhawks participated in the Ethan/Parkston Early Bird meet on Tuesday in Parkston.

The Sanborn Central/Woonsocket girls finished second in the team competition. Host Ethan/Parkston took first by a large margin, finishing with 180 team points. The Blackhawks scored 80 points. The Spartan girls finished seventh with 36 team points.

Ethan/Parkston also took the boys title, with 133 team points, pulling away from Hanson, who finished second with 101. Wessington Springs had 54 and Sanborn Central/Woonsocket notched nine team points.

The Blackhawks Liz Boschee placed in four events, taking titles in the high jump and javelin while finishing second in the 100-meter hurdles and third in the 300-meter hurdles.

Other area athletes winning titles included Wessington Springs Kenzie Kolousek in the girls 400-meter dash and Macey Beigh of Sanborn Central/Woonsocket in the girls 800-meter run. The Wessington Springs boys won the 4×800 relay.
