HARRISBURG The Harrisburg Tigers swept a pair of games from the Huron Tigers in the opening games of the 2025 season for Huron on Tuesday in Harrisburg.
A power barrage led Harrisburg to a 13-3 victory in the opening game as the home team smashed four home runs.
Kade Wede was effectively wild on the mound for Harrisburg, going 3 2/3 hitless innings and striking out ten Huron hitters, though he did walk six batters as well. Jack Pedersen drew the opening day call on the bump for Huron, and the lefty allowed six runs, two of them earned, on five hits and three walks over two innings, striking out one.
Tommie Martin pitched the final two innings for Huron, allowing seven runs on six hits and two walks, striking out one.
The Huron lineup managed just three singles, though they did draw ten walks. Logan Leyendecker reached base all three times to the plate with three walks and added a stolen base.
Brady Feenstra had a pair of walks and a single and Kolby Hofer drew a pair of walks.
The home squad offense was not done, picking up a 12-2 victory in the second game over Huron.
Davis Chase drew the pitching assignment in the nightcap, but he struggled with his control, walking five and issuing four wild pitches in an inning-plus. He allowed seven runs on one hit and struck out one.
Harrisburg would go on to score eight runs in the second inning as reliever Brady Feenstra allowed three runs on two hits and two walks.
Hofer settled things down for Huron on the mound, pitching two hitless innings of relief, allowing one unearned run on three walks, striking out two. Bubba Peterson came in and allowed a run in 2/3 inning to give Harrisburg the run-rule victory.
Hofer had a double and Cooper Bischoff had a stolen base, but no Huron hitter reached base twice.
Huron will bring an 0-2 record home for their first home games of the season, hosting Sioux Falls Washington Friday at Memorial Ballpark for a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m.
