As part of a yearly service project, Holy Trinity Catholic School fourth grade students learned about the Midwest Honor Flight.
They learned what it is, and why it is special for so many veterans.
Helping explain the flights to students were Jake Salathe, Huron American Legion Post 7, Hugh Holmes, American Legion Post 18, and Linda Holmes, Legion Post 18 American Legion Auxiliary, who came to the classroom to share their experiences while on a Midwest Honor Flight.
They also played games with the students and answered many of their questions. Midwest Honor Flight flies our veterans, especially the veterans who served in WWII, the Vietnam War through the Korean War, and terminally ill veterans from all wars to Washington D.C. to visit their memorials at no cost to the veterans.
It is a one-day flight and all expenses are paid, so there is no charge to the veterans. The money comes from donations from organizations and individuals.
This is their final call to duty, and it is a trip to honor veterans who gave so much for us and our country.

The Holy Trinity School fourthgraders will be making special MAIL CALL Thank You for Your Service cards for the men and women returning from the Midwest Honor Flight as part of their service project.
