National Volunteer Week is celebrated April 20-26, 2025. I appreciate the opportunity to serve as a volunteer Monday mornings for Huron Regional Medical Center Auxiliary at the Main Hospital Lobby Information Desk/Gift Shop. My primary duties include greeting patients, caregivers, and visitors at the main entrance and guiding them to specific departments, rooms, or locations within the hospital, delivering newspapers and flowers, and selling gift shop merchandise.
HRMC hospital offers in-person volunteer orientation and HRMC Auxiliary provides updated monthly newsletters. To be sure there are times when Im stumped for answer to a question. I turn to HRMC staff Tony, Emily, and Shayla who are readily available to provide professional expertise. They make me look good!
Im retired five years now. At that time I was seeking a new opportunity on my lifes journey that was out of my comfort zone. Several friends encouraged me to consider volunteering for HRMC Auxiliary. Today I am impressed and rewarded to know about the variety of medical services HRMC offers and the quality of professional care that is available right here in Huron.
