Huron splits with Pierre

HURON The Huron junior varsity Tigers rebounded from an opening game loss to get a victory in the second game on Tuesday against Pierre at Memorial Field.

The JV Govs exploded in the third and fourth inning of the opener for 16 runs for an 18-1 victory.

Nolan Stahly tossed three innings, allowing nine runs, though only three were earned. He allowed six hits and walked three while striking out two.

Tyce Huber allowed nine runs in 2/3 inning before Colt Culver got the final out in the fourth inning.

No Huron hitter reached base more than once in the opener. Cooper Bischoff and Chase Schuchhardt each had a stolen base.

Runs were much more scarce in the nightcap, as Huron used a two-run fifth inning to take a 3-2 lead and made it stand up.

Oakley Anderson tossed five innings, allowing two unearned runs on four hits and a walk. He struck out two. Parker Bischoff finished out the final two innings, pitching hitless relief, allowing a walk, striking out three.

Huron had just seven baserunners in the game, though three of those were Cooper Bischoff, who had a pair of singles, a walk, and a stolen base. Parker Bischoff had a single and a walk, stealing two bases as well.

Hurons junior varsity returns to play Saturday at 5 p.m. at Klock Field.
