PLATTE With the help of victories in three individual events, the Wolsey-Wessington girls track team finished fifth out of 11 teams at the Platte-Geddes Invitational on Saturday.
Kenli Hooks won the shot put and discus events for the Lady Warbirds. She had a winning throw of 30-feet, 4-inches in the shot put and turned in a throw of 92-2 to win the discus.
Kendall Uttecht had the other win for Wolsey-Wessington in the 100-meter race. She turned in a winning time of 13,80 seconds and was second in the 200 at 29.43.
Taylor Eichstadt placed in three events for the Lady Warbirds. She was sixth in the 400 and 800 reaces and finished eighth in the javelin throw.
Lily Hoverson tied for second in the high jump for Wolsey-Wessington, while Shae Uttecht was third in the 300 hurdles and Ava Beerman was sixth in the shot put.
Platte-Geddes won the girls team title with 146 points, while Irene-Wakonda was second at 96. Rounding out the top five were Jones County at 70, Gregory at 55 and Wolsey-Wessington at 54.
Platte-Geddes also won the boys title with 147.5 points, while Gregory was second at 104. Tripp-Delmont/Armour was third at 57, followed by Jones County at 48 and Bon Homme at 47.5.
Wolsey-Wessington was eighth with 32 points.
The Warbirds won a pair of relays in the boys division.
Cooper Timm, Keaton Zomer, Lucas Bureau and Wyatt Koester combined to win the 1,600 relay in 3:52.92. Breydyn Skipper joined Timm, Zomer and Koester to win the medley relay in 4:06.94.
Bureau was also second for Wolsey-Wessington in the 300 hurdles, while Landon Jungemann was fourth in the 3,200.
Wolsey-Wessington will be at the Platte-Geddes Javelin-Pole Vault Classic on Monday and then take its full squad to the Miller Booster Club Meet on Tuesday.
