Huron golfers sixth in Hub City Invitational

ABERDEEN Huron finished sixth during the Hub City Invitational on Thursday at Lee Park Golf Course.

With three of the top four golfers in the tournament, Aberdeen Central used a score of 295 to win the team title. Mitchell was second at 312, followed by Aberdeen Roncalli at 337, Brookings at 353 and Pierre at 365.

Huron finished the day at 433.

Olivia Braun of Aberdeen Central tallied a 70 to edge teammate Kyley Wirebaugh by three strokes for the medalist honors. Maddie Childs of Mitchell was third with a 73, while Emma Dohrer of Aberdeen Central was fourth at 74.

Rounding out the top five was Gabi Olson of Watertown with a 76.

Olivia Purintun led Huron with an 88, which put her No. 19 in the final standings.

Taylor Sorben was 29th for the Tigers with a 96, while Paige Sherron and Kolby Glanzer finished with scores of 116 and 133.

The Huron golfers will be back in action Thursday with the Huron Invite at Broadland Creek Golf Course.
