SIOUX FALLS The top three runners in the boys special 800-meter race on Friday at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays were from out of state.
Taylor Wanner of Bowman County in North Dakota won the event in a time of 1:52.64, which established a new top time in the event in North Dakota.
Tommy Rice of Omaha Skutt Catholic was second at 1:53.65, while Benjamin Harris of Minot, N.D., was third at 1:55.29, which gives him the new second fastest time in North Dakota.
A North Dakota runner also won the girls special 200-meter race and established a new fastest time in the event for her state.
Anya Olson of Velba-Drake/Anamoose won the 200 reace in 23.94 seconds, while Reagain ONeill of Bennett County was second at 24.10, which is a new Class B season-best time in South Dakota.
Jordyn Larsen of Custer was third at 24.25, followed by Chloe Raw of Arlington at 24.48.
The Howard Wood Dakota Relays will conclude today.
