SIOUX FALLS With all three doubles matches and four of the six singles matches being decided by tiebreakers, St. Thomas More escaped with a 5-4 boys tennis victory against Huron in one of its two matches on Saturday.
In the other match, defending champion Sioux Falls Christian recorded a 9-0 win against the Tigers.
The boys played well today. We lost some tough matches in third-set tiebreakers, Huron coach Tim Hedblom said. The boys gave themseles an opportunity to win the dual with St. Thomas More. They are a solid team and our boys battled.
We picked up some important wins for state.”
Claiming singles wins for the Tigers against St. Thomas More were Matthew Thin at No. 1 and Htoo Zan at No. 3.
Zan and Say Poe combined to win at No. 2 doubles for Huron , while Ler Hai Moo and Ywa Hae Moo combined to win in No. 3 doubles.
Huron returns to action Tuesday with a match against Brandon Valley at noon at Huron Courts.
