Letter – Nicholas 5-6-25

To the editor:

May 4-11 is designated as National Music Week sponsored by the National Federation of Music Clubs. This years theme is, Music isunstoppable!

Theres something timeless, boundless, and fiercely alive about music. It crosses oceans without passports, speaks languages without needing words, and beats inside us – regardless of where we come from or who we are. Music is unstoppable.

Wars have raged, empires have fallen, technologies have changed the way we live – but through it all, music never stopped. It adapted, evolved, and morphed into new forms. Vinyl became cassette, cassette became CDs, CDs, became streams – and yet the soul of music remained untouched.

In times of celebration, we sing. In moments of sorrow, we turn to melodies that understand us better than words ever could. We dance when we dont know how else to express joy. We put on a favorite song to feel less alone. No matter whats happening in the world, music is always there, like a friend or a heartbeat.

Because music isnt just sound – it is memory, emotion, protest, peace, power. It connects strangers, ignites movements, and inspires change. It is in our cars, our homes, our headphones, and our hearts. That is why music education in our schools is such a great opportunity to be exposed to everything musical.

Make the most of your opportunities to not only listen to music but learn how to make the music your own. Music has been around since the beginning of time. You cant stop something that lives everywhere and exists forever.

So the next time you hear that beat drop, that string pluck, that lyric that hits just right – take it all in and enjoy your life filled with the adventure of music. Music isUNSTOPPABLE!
