HURON With the top three golfers in the tournament, Aberdeen Central cruised to the team championship at the Huron Invitational on Thursday at Broadland Creek Golf Course.
The Golden Eagles finished with a 301 total, which put them 13 strokes over par. Mitchell was second in the 7-team event at 324, while Rapid City Stevens was third at 344.
Rounding out the field of teams were OGorman at 351, Brookings at 369, Pierre at 385 and Huron at 451.
Olivia Braun shot a 4-under 68 to win the medalist honors for Aberdeen Central. Kyley Wirebaugh was second for the Golden Eagles with a 70, while teammate Emma Dohrer was third at 76.
Rounding out the top five were Mitchell teammates Anna Eliason and Mia Larson with scores of 78 and 79, respectively.
The other scoring golfer for the winning Golden Eagles was Chloe Vikander, who shared the 15th sp;ot with an 87.
Taylor Sorben led Huron with a 91, which placed her in a 3-way tie for 18th.
Olivia Purintun was 32nd for the Tigers at 105, while teammate Elle Waldoch was four strokes backin the No. 24 spot.
Rounding out the lineup for Huron on its home course were Valeria Hohn at 124, Paige Sherron at 127, Kolby Glanzer at 128, Jesselyn Matthews at 139, and Taryn Cass at 154.
The Tigers will be back in action today at the Yankton Invitational, which begins at 10 a.m., at Fox Run Golf Course.
