Clark/Willow Lake girls finish second in Last Chance meet
VOLGA The Clark/Willow Lake Cyclones girls finished second to host Sioux Valley Thursday in the Last Chance meet in Volga.
The Cyclones had 156 team points, finishing second to the Cossacks 159.

Sioux Valley took second in the boys team title to Great Plains Lutheran. Clark/Willow Lake was fourth.

Eighth-grader Nevaeh Reitz took first in the 100-meter dash for Clark/Willow Lake. Other first-place placers were Emma Bochek in 300 hurdles, the 4×100 relay team, the 4×400 relay team, and Eliza Larson in the shot put.

Michael Severson heaved the shot put 48-0.5 to win the boys shot put. Emmerson Larson won the long jump as well.

De Smet girls take second at Dolphin Relays
WHITE Deubrook hosted the Dolphin Relays on Thursday in White, and the De Smet Bulldogs and Iroquois/Lake Preston Sharks fared well.

The De Smet girls finished second in the team competition to Colman-Egan, with the Hawks scoring 163 points to the Bulldogs 142.

Iroquois/Lake Preston was ninth with 30 team points.

Elkton-Lake Benton won the boys team title, running away from the pack. De Smet finished fourth with 66 team points, and Iroquois/Lake Preston had 27 team points to finish tenth.

Placing in the top four for the De Smet girls were Hazel Luethmers in the 200-meter dash (fourth) and high jump (first), Cambria Gross in the 1600-meter run (fourth) and 3200-meter run (fourth), Charli McCune in the 100-meter hurdles (third) and 300-meter hurdles (first), Mirra Beck in the 300-meter hurdles (fourth) and triple jump (first), Audi Currier in discus (second), Izy Bendorf in the long jump (third) and triple jump (third), and Adalyn Gross in the long jump (fourth) and triple jump (second).

The De Smet girls also finished second in the 4×200 relay, third in the 4×400 relay, and third in the 4×800 relay.

Hadlee Holt won the shot put and discus events for Iroquois/Lake Preston.

Top four placers for the De Smet boys included Ganon Henrich in the 100-meter dash (second) and 200-meter dash (third), Owen Anderson in the 400-meter dash (fourth), Grant Wilkinson in the shot put (second), and Payton Botkin in the shot put (third).

The De Smet boys finished second in the 4×200 relay.

For the Sharks, Rexton Blue and Ben Curd finished third and fourth in the discus.

Springs boys, girls finish second at Avon meet
AVON The Wessington Springs Spartans boys and girls teams both finished second in team competition Thursday at the Avon Last Chance meet.

Burke won the girls title with 180 team points, far outpacing the Spartans with 64 team points.

On the boys side, Gregory also ran away with the team title, scoring 172 points. The Spartans finished second with 102.5 points.

Placing for the Springs girls were Mariah Messmer (third in 200-meter), Logan Mohling (second in 400-meter), Kendall Kolousek (eighth in 400-meter), Kenzie Kolousek (third in 800-meter), Masynn Mebius (seventh in 3200-meter), Bailey Yost (first in 100 hurdles and fourth in 300 hurdles), Anna Arhart (second in shot put and eighth in discus), and Ashlyn Weber (seventh in high jump)

Springs girls relay teams took seventh in the 4×100, third in the 4×200, fourth in the 4×400, second in the 4×800, and fourth in the medley relay.

On the boys side, Hayes Havlik took second in the 200, Karter Mebius was second in the 400, Carson Finn was third in the 800 and third in high jump, Ranick Fjerstad was third in the 1600 and fourth in the 3200, Sutten Jensen was fifth in the 1600 and second in the 3200, Colby Flowers was second in the 110 hurdles and fifth in the 300 hurdles while finishing sixth in the high jump, Sam Poncelow was third in the 300 hurdles, Grady Gran finished sixth in shot put, Robbie Hine was fourth in discus, and Ryder Michalek took second in high jump.

The relay teams for the Springs boys brought home fifth in the 4×100, first in the 4×200, fourth in the 4×400, first in the 4×800, and fourth in the medley relay.
