HURON The rains throughout the week parted in time to have a beautiful Thursday for the annual Mark Wendelgass Relays meet in Huron.
Personal best throws for the top three Tigers girls javelin throwers put three Huron girls in the top 7 positions, as Hylton Heinz tossed 124 feet, 4 inches to take first and Alyse Davis threw 120 feet, 9 inches to take second. Maggie Storm finished seventh with a throw of 104 feet even.
Davis also took fourth in the shot put. Kyla Peskey placed fourth in both the long jump and triple jump. Isabelle Kremer finished fifth in discus.
Zaniyah Lanier finished fourth in the 100-meter dash and fifth in the 200 meter. Olivia Tschetter took fourth in the 400-meter run and Chloe Carr took fourth in the 800-meter run. Lily Meyer took fifth in the 800.
The Huron 4×800 relay team of Carr, Meyer, Josie Vlieger, and Nora Pester took second to Pierre.
On the boys side, eighth-grader Carter Porisch tossed a personal-best 140 feet, five inches to place third. Senior Thackary Hansen took second in the 100-meter dash and fifth in the 200. Teagan Lien claimed fourth in the 300-meter hurdles.
The Huron boys 4×800 relay team was the sole team running.
Next up for Huron track is the state track meet in Sioux Falls.
