Area students awarded scholarships

Wallman receives Homegrown Scholarship
Helena Agri-Enterprises is awarding Jerrad Wallman of Yale with the Homegrown Scholarship worth $1,000 to pursue a higher education. Wallman is a graduate of James Valley Christian High School and is entering South Dakota State University to study agriculture science.

Helenas Homegrown Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors from 15 states who are majoring in an agriculture-related program. For several years, the Homegrown Scholarship has been an important part of Helenas commitment to developing the future of ag professionals.

Applications for the Homegrown Scholarship will be available again in early 2026 through ag teachers and local FFA chapters in participating states and counties.

SDATAT awards scholarships
The South Dakota Association of Towns and Townships (SDATAT) is proud to announce the recipients of its 2025 scholarship awards.
Nora Terhark received a $1,000 scholarship. She is a graduate of Willow Lake High School and the daughter of Jared and Angela Terhark. She will attend South Dakota State University to major in Family and Consumer Science Education, with endorsements in psychology and sociology.

This years applicants were asked to reflect on cultural values, personal development, and civic engagement in their essays. Students explored current cultural trends, interviewed someone who helped shape their values, and described how they plan to make a positive impact on local government and the state of South Dakota.

The SDATAT scholarship program honors young people from South Dakotas townships who embody servant leadership humility, hard work, and commitment to others. By supporting these students, were investing in future leaders who will carry on the legacy of strong, service-driven township government.

AB&T awards scholarships
American Bank & Trust (AB&T) is proud to announce the awarding of 33 scholarships valued at $1,000 each to graduating high school seniors across the banks footprint as part of its ongoing commitment to investing in their communities and the future.

The scholarship program, which is open to graduating high school seniors, supports students who plan to attend an accredited college, university, vocational school, or community college on a full-time basis in South Dakota, North Dakota, or Minnesota.

Recipients include Tehya Vig, Willow Lake, Kera Dubro, Iroquois, Elaina Hohm, Huron, Damon Schmidt, Huron, Arielle Miner, Miller, William Bruckner, Wessington Springs, Macy Washechek, Wolsey, Karter Mebius, Wessington Springs and Ianah Feist, Wessington.
