Huron Elks fundraiser benefits Sleep in Heavenly Peace

HURON The Huron Elks had a game of chance playing Chase the Queen of Hearts. Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) was the non-profit that benefited from the fundraiser.

SHP is a nonprofit that builds beds for kids, ages 3-17, who do not have a bed of their own. If you know someone who needs a bed, they can apply online at SHPbeds.org.

Volunteers hold build days to construct the bed frame from 2x4s and 2x6s. The child will get a frame, mattress and new sheets, pillow and quilt.

The next build day is planned for July 26, starting at 9 a.m., at the S.D. State Fair grounds on the West side of the Tech building.

SHP is in need of volunteers for that day. You can sign up by going to www.shpbeds.org/chapter/sd-huron or by emailing [email protected].

Torria Howard won the drawing by choosing the correct card and was awarded fifty percent of the total ticket sales.
