HURON The Huron Public Library is wrapping up an incredible 2025 Summer Reading Program and extends a heartfelt thank you to all of their sponsors! Your generous support made this summers wide range of events, activities, and programs possible.
Over the course of the seven-week program, the library welcomed an impressive 19,533 attendees to its programs and activities. From storytimes and STEM events to live performances and educational workshops, the library has been a vibrant hub of learning, imagination, and community engagement for patrons of all ages.
And the fun isnt over yet there are still exciting events ahead to help us close out the summer in style!
Upcoming Library Events:
Fishing 101 at the Library All Ages Welcome. Thursday, Aug. 1 at 10 a.m. Join the South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks Department for a free, hands-on introduction to fishing! Learn about South Dakota fish, bait and lures, tying knots, and casting techniques then try your skills on the library lawn. No registration needed.
Picnic Storytime All Ages/Family Event. Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 11:30 a.m. Bring a blanket and join them for stories and sunshine at this outdoor storytime event! Perfect for the whole family.
Meet Football Legend Garney Henley Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. Celebrate the achievements of CFL Hall of Famer and Huron College graduate Garney Henley. Hear about his incredible career, enjoy a Q&A session, view sports memorabilia, and get an autograph from this local and national sports icon.
Minute to Win It Game Night Adults 18+. Friday, Aug. 8 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Challenge yourself in a night of fast-paced fun inspired by the hit game show! Laugh, compete, and win prizes in a series of one-minute games. Registration required at hpl.huronsd.gov or call 605-353-8530. Space is limited!

Coffee Chat Meet Local Leaders
Aug. 12 at 6:30 p.m.: Mati Felderman and new doctors from the Physicians Clinic
Aug. 19 at 6:30 p.m.: Candi Briley from the South Dakota State Fair
Enjoy coffee and great conversation while learning more about community services and events.
Kid Clothes Swap Huron Event Center. Swap Day: Friday, Aug. 9
Give your childs closet a refresh before school starts! Donate gently used kids clothing (infant through teen) during drop-off days (Aug. 6 and 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Aug. 8 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.). Return on Aug. 9 to shop new-to-you items. Donors get early access at 9 a.m.; the public is welcome from 10 a.m. to noon ($5 per bag). Remaining items will be donated to local foster families.
