City Commission learns of newspaper reopening

HURON The Huron City Commission learned Monday evening during public forum that an agreement had been reached to keep the Huron Daily Plainsman open.

Plainsman managing editor Benjamin Chase addressed the commission during the time for public comment, informing the members that the paper had been among four papers purchased by Champion Media in a deal made official Friday evening.

Chase stated that the new owners of the paper were in the state to visit all four papers, including spending Monday in Huron. He also noted that changes would be coming to the paper, such as printing two days rather than five.
