Lynx edge Huron boys in opener

HURON With a pair of goals in the second half, Brandon Valley emerged with a 2-1 victory in the boys soccer season opener against Huron on Friday at Tiger Stadium.

We did a great job of moving the ball in the first half, but ultimately our mistakes cost us in the second half, Huron coach Leah Branaugh said. We gave up too much possession time with the ball and gave Brandon Valley opportunities to score and they capitalized on that.

We had several missed opportunities on our end to score in both halves, which hurt us in the end, she said.

Brandon Valley found the net just four minutes apart in the second half with the first coming in the 56th minute to pull even.
