Huron soccer teams complete West River swing

RAPID CITY The Huron boys soccer team is still searching for its first win of the season following a West River swing.

The Tigers battled to a 0-0 draw against Rapid City Central on Friday and suffered a 3-0 setback to Rapid City Stevens on Saturday.

We moved the ball well at times, but other times gave up way too much possession, Huron coach Leah Branaugh said of her teams performance on Friday. We had a few chances to score, but just could capitalize.

Jaxon Andru recorded six saves in the net for the Tigers.

With goals in the 14th and 39th minute, Stevens built a 2-0 advantage over Huron in the opening half on Saturday. The Raiders scored their final goal in the 63rd minute.

Stevens is a very solid team. They moved the ball very quick and had numerous players with the ability to score, Branaugh said. I thought we played a great first half and gave up a goal right before halftime, which was an error on our end.

We are dealing with some injuries right now and hoping to get some of them back by Tuesdays game at Sioux Falls Christian, she said.

Andru recorded seven saves for the Tigers, who are now 0-3.

Junior Varsity
The Huron junior varsity picked up a 2-1 victory against Rapid City Central on Friday.

Eh Poe and Diego Menijivar Molina had goals for the Tigers, while Keving Hernandez Alfonso had an assist. John Say earned the win in the net.
Hernandez Alfonso had the lone goal for the Huron JV in a 6-1 loss against Stevens on Saturday.

Say recorded five saves for the Tigers.

Girls
The Huron girls soccer team managed to get on the board, but suffered a 10-1 setback against Rapid City Central on Friday during the first game of a two-game West River swing.

Allyson Trujillo-Cordova had the goal for the Tigers on an unassisted shot.

Wai Wai Lin had 13 saves for Huron in the openign half, while Moo Say had five saves in the second half.

Huron then went scoreless in an 11-0 loss against Stevens on Saturday.

Lin inked seven saves in the first half, while Eh Ku Shee had seven saves in the second half.

The Tigers were also swept in a pair of junior varsity games, with back-to-back 10-0 losses.

Rosy Wah had six saves in the opening half against Central on Friday, while KeeLer Paw had six saves in the second half.

Paw tallied nine saves for Huron on Saturday against Stevens.
