Iroquois/Lake Preston cruises to win against Hitchcock-Tulare

HITCHCOCK Iroquois/Lake Preston scored the first 40 points en route to a 40-16 victory against Hitchcock-Tulare on Thursday.

Four of the six touchdowns in the game for the Sharks, who improved to 2-0, came from the arm of Brycen Blue. He had four touchdown passes to three different receivers.

Blue connected with Ervin Carter on 33- and 17-yard scoring strikes to open the scoring for Iroquois/Lake Preston.

Lucas Peskey then scored on a 26-yard run, before hauling in a 29-yard scoring strike from Blue to make it 26-0 at the half.

Blue found Carter on a 3-yard pass to reach pay dirt for the third time to open the scoring in the third quarter. Peskey also reached the end zone a third time during the third quarter on a 30-yard run.

Blue was 11 of 17 passing for 262 yards in the game for the Sharks. He also had two carries for 12 cards.

Peskey racked up a game-high 303 yards rushing on 21 carries for Iroquois/Lake Preston. Carter had six catches for 140 yards, while Carter Arbeiter had three catches for 66 yards.

Rowdy Scheel was the defensively leader for the Sharks with eight tackles and 10 assisted stops. Ben Curd and Peskey had eight and seven tackles, respectively, while Peyton Hope had a fumble recovery.

Max Gilbert had both touchdowns for Hitchcock-Tulare in the fourth quarter. He scored the first on a 61-yard run and the second on a 3-yard run.

Devin Enander was 8 of 11 passing for 51 yards for the Patriots and was the leading rusher with 124 yards on 17 carries.

Gilbert added 103 yards on 14 carries. Morgon Bottum had four catches for 33 yards, while Preston Wipf had two catches for 12 yards.

Iroquois/Lake Preston will face Canistota in Lake Preston on Friday.

Hitchcock-Tulare, which is now 0-2, will host Northwestern in Tulare on Friday.
