Another 3-2 win extends win streak to seven for JVC

HURON For the second time in as many outings, the James Valley Christian soccer team emerged with a 3-2 victory. After getting past St. Thomas More by that score on Friday, the Vikings matched the feat against Groton Area on Tuesday at JVC Field to improve to 7-0.

JVC opened the scoring on Tuesday with a goal by Keeghann Hood on a pass from Gavin Wadner in the 11th minute.

The Tigers responded with a goal by Karson Zak in the 19th minute on a pass from Ethan Kroll.

JVC would regain the advantage before the end of the first half, as Waldner was fouled and Noah Fast converted on a penalty kick to five the Vikings a 2-1 lead at the break.

Groton Area would even things back up 13 minutes into the second half with an unassisted goal by Karsten Fliehs.

Isaac Fast would net the game-winner for JVC with 12 minutes remaining in the game. He scored on a pass from Skylar Thielbar.

Jonah Niederbaumer earned the win in the net for the Vikings with 13 saves.

Both teams had 20 shots.

In its previous outing, James Valley Christian held on for a 3-2 victory against St. Thomas More on Friday. It was the sixth win in a row to open the season for the Vikings.

The Cavaliers tallied the opening goal just eight minutes into the game on a shot by Luca Scherr.

Waldner evened things up for JVC four minutes later with a goal. He scored on a pass from Noah Fast.

Later in the opening half, Carson Dorris corralled a rebound and was able to score, which put the Vikings in front 2-1.

Noah Fast got into the scoring act for JVC in the second half. He scored on a long pass from his brother, Isaac, 14th minutes into the second half to make it 3-1.

A goal by Charles Rangel brought St. Thomas More back to within a goal, but thats as close as it would get the rest of the way.

The Vikings finished with 24 shots on goal, compared to 13 for St. Thomas More.
Niederbaumer recorded six saves for the Vikings.

Next up for JVC is a game Sept. 16 at Freeman Academy. The Vikings tallied a 3-2 victory in the previous meeting between the two teams.
