HURON Despite suffering a 1-0 loss against Yankton on Tuesday at Tiger Stadium, Huron boys soccer coach Leah Branaugh was pleased with what she saw out of her team.
This was our best game of the season, Branaugh said. The boys did a great job of keeping possession and getting shots off and defending the runs of Yankton.
They really stepped up big against a very good Yankton team, which is currently ranked fifth, she said.
It was the fifth straight win for the Bucks, who improved to 6-3-1.
Yanktons lone goal came in the 37th minute on free kick.
Jaxon Andru had four saves in the net for the Tigers, who are now 0-8-1.
Huron and Yankton played to a 2-2 draw in the junior varsity boys game.
Hei Moo Soe and Jose Figueroa Hernandez had goals for the Tigers, while Hosea Lay had a pair of assists.
John Say had four saves for Huron, while Jhonatan Ordonez had two saves.
The Tigers will face Watertown on Thursday at 6 p.m., at Tiger Stadium.
Girls
Yankton earned its sixth win of the season with a 10-0 victory against Huron on Tuesday at Tiger Stadium.
Wai Wai Lin had seven saves in the net for the Tigers.
Yankton recorded a 5-0 win in the JV girls game.
Ler Paw and Rosy Wah each had eight saves for the Huron JV.
The Tigers will host Watertown at 4 p.m. Thursday at Tiger Stadium.
