DE SMET With four runners inside the top 10, Clark/Willow Lake won the girls title at the De Smet Invitational on Thursday.
The Cyclones finished with 12 points to edge James Valley Christian by 14 points for the top spot in the final girls standings.
Arlington was third at 30, followed by Deuel at 32 and Wessington Springs at 47.
Shyla Tvedt of Deuel was the winner of the girls race in 21:30.36, while
Florence/Henry teammates Sierra Keller and Emma Caulfield were second and third, respectively, at 21:33.47 and 21:35.04.
Jennifer Bevers was the top runner for Clark/Willow Lake. She was fifth at 22:08.76.
Emma Bochek, Cadence Bochek and Johanna Vandersnick finished in spots No. 7-9, respectively for the Cyclones. Emma Bochek finished at 22:45.01, followed by Cadence Bochek at 22:45.69 and Vandersnick at 23:09.23.
Hadasah Olson was 11th for JVC at 23:21.40, while Mykelti Olson was 13th at 24:13.48 and Rylin Wipf was 14th at 24:14.84.
Other area runners finishing in the top 20 were Hadley Gjerde of Clark/Willow Lake, who as 15th at 24:22.08; Micaiah Brantner of JVC, who was 16th at 24:35.76; Andie Aughenbaugh of Sanborn Central/Woonsocket, who was 17th at 24:51.68; and Alexis Roesler of Wessington Springs, who was 19th at 25:16.74.
With a total of 10 points, Deuel edged James Valley Christian by four points for the boys team title. Sanborn Central/Woonsocket was third at 49, followed by Clark/Willow Lake at 53 and Mt. Vernon/Plankinton at 58. De Smet was sixth at 64.
Kaden Ober of James Valley Christian was the medalist in the boys race. He had a winning time of 17:42.71.
Deuel teammates Caden Hourigan and Tyson Hagberg were second and third, respectively, at 18:04.10 and 18:10.99.
Kolby VanDerWerff was fourth for the Vikings at 18:27.80, while teammates Levi Crandall and Keegan Loewen were No. 11 and 12, respectively, with times of 19:55.86 and 19:57.65.
Deuel had runners in spots No. 7 and 9 to claim the title.
Case Carlson was sixth for Iroquois/Lake Preston at 18:51.91, while Jackson Wolter was eight for Sanborn Central/Woonsocket at 19:09.27.
Clark/Willow Lake runners Aksel Gjerde and Will Hovde finished No. 16 and 17, respectively, with times of 20:26.56 and 20:32.87.
