WOLSEY Wolsey-Wessington recorded a sweep against Hitchcock-Tulare in a 281 Conference volleyball matchup on Thursday.

The Lady Warbirds won the match with set scores of 25-22, 25-17 and 25-20 to improve to 2-2.

Maria Nelson was 29 of 30 attacking with nine kills to lead Wolsey-Wessington. Timber Haeder was 20 of 22 hitting with seven kills.

Nelson was also 12 of 13 serving with a pair of aces for the Lady Warbirds, while Shae Uttecht was 10 of 10 from the service line.

Kendal Uttecht converted on 102 out of 102 sets with 24 assists to guide the Wolsey-Wessington attack.

Defensively, Shae Uttecht recorded 21 digs for the Lady Warbirds, while Nelson had nine digs. Haeder and Preslie Jensen each had a block.

Rebecca Huizenga was 35 of 44 hitting with 13 kills to lead Hitchcock-Tulare, which suffered just its second loss in seventh matches this season. Cora Hofer had nine kills on 25 of 27 hitting, while Tess Bixler was 20 of 24 with five kills.

Olivia Knox was 11 of 12 serving for the Lady Patriots, while Huizenga was 7 of 7 with an ace and Averie Estey was 10 of 11 with an ace.

Gracyn Bixler recorded 32 assists for Hitchcock-Tulare. Cambree Hoekman had a team-high 16 digs, while Knox and Gracyn Bixler finished with 15 and 10 digs, respectively.

Hofer and Tess Bixler each had three solo blocks.

Wolsey-Wessington will face Sunshine Bible Academy, Langford Area, Marty and Sanborn Central/Woonsocket in the Warbird Volleyball Tournament today beginning at 10 a.m.

Hitchcock-Tulare will participate in the Clark/Willow Lake Cyclone Tournament today in Clark beginning at 9 a.m.

Burke 3, Miller 2
BURKE After winning the first two sets with scores of 25-22 and 25-19, the No. 4-ranked team in Class B, Burke, needed a 15-11 victory in the fifth set to ink a 3-2 win against Miller and remain undefeated.

The Rustlers, who are receiving votes in the Class A rankings, tallied 25-13 and 25-20 wins in the third and fourth sets to force the tiebreaker.

Paige Werdel was 41 of 45 attacking with 12 kills to lead Miller, which is now 4-2. Kate Lichty ws 21 of 24 hitting with eight kills, while Kaihlyn Anderberg was 34 of 41 with six kills and Emma Pugh had five kills on 19 of 28 hits.

Pugh led the Rustlers with three aces on 198 of 20 serves, while Lichty had a pair of aces on 13 of 17 serving and Jolie Palmer was 19 of 20 serving with an ace.

Gracen Werdel tallied 29 assists on 142 of 145 setting for Miller.

Palmer recorded 25 digs on 27 of 29 passing, while Paige Werdel had 17 digs and Anderberg and Pugh added 15 and 14 digs, respectively.

The Rustlers will host Gettysburg in a match today at 4 p.m.

Wessington Springs 3, Howard 0
HOWARD Wessington Springs swept Howard for its third straight victory on Thursday.

The Lady Spartans won the match with set score of 25-20, 25-20 and 25-9.

Kaitlyn Braun had eight kills and two solo blocks to lead Wessington Springs,which improved to 6-3. Jewel McGeough had seven kills.

Kendall Kolousek tallied 15 points and had an ace for the Lady Spartans. Kenzie Kolousek recorded 17 digs and Logan Mohling had 26 assists.

Wessington Springs will host Sanborn Central/Woonsocket in a 281 Conference match on Tuesday.

No statistics were available for Howard, which is now 0-9.

Hitchcock-Tulare 3, Faulkton Area 0
TULARE Hitchcock-Tulare earned its fifth win of the season with a sweep against Faulkton Area on Tuesday.

The Lady Patritos used set scores of 25-12, 15-19 and 25-6 to improve to 5-1.

Rebecca Huizenga and Emmerie Arthurs each had nine kills to lead Hitchcock-Tulare. Huizenga was 13 of 15 hitting, while Arthurs was 16 of 18.

Olivia Knox was 21 of 21 serving with an ace, while Avane Estay was 17 of 17 with an ace for the Lady Patriots.

Gracyn Bixler was 77 of 79 setting with 29 assists and had 13 digs. Cambree Hoekman recorded a team-high 14 digs for Hitchcock-Tulare.

Cora Hofer had a solo and three assisted blocks for the Lady Patriots.

Individual statistics were not available for Faulkton Area (2-2).
